Little red....

mood: happy
craving: driving in my old little red car  full of my besties

Salam Alikom (Peace be with you)  to all my Muslim readers and Hola to all my non-Muslim readers. Haven't had any time for blogging, my life is busy with my family and friends. But, I'll try really hard to get a couple of blog posts in a week. :) I hope everyone is doing good and had a fab weekend. Mine was relaxing.

Her name was little red. She always took me from A to B and was very good to me and my friends. I could always depend on her and that was the most important thing in a teen's life. My dad got her when I was thirteen and I never knew she would be mine someday. My mom taught me how to drive her, she was manual. I taught most of my friends to drive standard, too. We had so many good times driving her around like there's no tomorrow. If she could talk, I would of been in lots of trouble.

I remember driving to the lake down Ave. F with a car full of my friends, screaming and dancing with loud music. The funny thing is, the only the times we did that was when my parents went out of town and my older sister and her little family was staying with me supposedly watching me. Whatever. We would reign over Del Rio and the lake and yeah, sometimes we would go to Mexico.

I went off and got married and little red still stayed with me. But, eventually I got a new car and my parents sold her. For a long time, I never knew who her new owners were, until one day I was driving along Ave F and I saw her. There she was, old and beaten up. My heart skipped a beat; I tried to catch up to her, trying to pass every car that I could. Finally, we were next to each other. I looked over to my left and there she was, orange as ever (the red faded) and with people from Mexico driving her. She looked well-used. I got a little teary eyed, just thinking of the memories and the laugher she brought my friends and I. No little car will ever steal my heart like Little Red did. We had some fun years.

final whisper: Little Red, my years with you are cherished. Renee and Jessica loved you just as much. ~Zoooom Zoooooom~

it always fascinates me how we can get attached to material things and after a while we stopo think of it as material stuff and be like an important friend or a sibling. Amazing, i loved the post so much :)

that's me said...

my son loved the car on the pic, my old car was standart too and it was a ford special edition ( a very old one hehehe) but I think no one can forget the first car, and the amazing thing was that you saw it after all that time!

Because life is beautiful.
